GETTING STARTED

Your First Steps on GMGN

From connecting Telegram to your first buy, with no KYC, no email and no seed phrase to import. Follow the step-by-step guides and learn how to place your first trade on GMGN. Visit the GMGNGuide homepage for a full platform overview.

How do I create a GMGN account?

You authenticate with Telegram. Open @gmgnaibot to log in on the web, or open the trading bot for your chain, and GMGN generates a wallet for you on each chain it supports. There is no email signup, no password and no KYC, and there is no seed phrase to write down because GMGN never shows you one. Your Telegram account is the key to the account, so secure it before you deposit anything.

GMGN runs a separate Telegram bot per chain: @GMGN_sol_bot for Solana, @GMGN_bsc_bot for BSC, @GMGN_swap_bot for Ethereum, @GMGN_base_bot for Base and @GMGN_tron_bot for Tron, plus @gmgnaibot for website login. All of them share one account and one referral code. Scammers register lookalike handles using a capital "I" in place of a lowercase "l," a trick GMGN warns about in its own documentation, so open bots from a link you trust rather than from search results inside Telegram. You can also connect a browser wallet such as Phantom, but that does not do what most people expect: GMGN creates a multichain custodial account derived from it, with new addresses per chain. Our Telegram connect and wallet funding guide walks through both paths.

Does GMGN require KYC?

No. Nothing in GMGN's terms, privacy policy or documentation describes identity verification under any circumstance. There is no document upload and no email requirement. What GMGN does store is your Telegram handle, your wallet addresses and public chain data, plus country-level location, per its published privacy policy. Its terms are governed by British Virgin Islands law and list Afghanistan, Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria as prohibited jurisdictions.

How do I fund my GMGN wallet?

Send the chain's native token to the deposit address the bot shows you: SOL on Solana, BNB on BSC, ETH on Ethereum or Base, TRX on Tron. Keep at least 0.05 SOL spare on Solana as a fee reserve, which is GMGN's own recommendation. One trap to know about first: GMGN's in-app wallet cannot swap USDT or USDC into SOL or ETH natively, so sending stablecoins and expecting to convert leaves you with a balance you have to trade out through a token contract.

Getting money out is the part worth reading before you put money in. Withdrawals are web-only, since the Telegram bot cannot withdraw at all, and they require Google Authenticator two-factor authentication plus a whitelisted destination address. GMGN holds withdrawals for three hours after you first set or change the whitelist, and for 24 hours after re-binding your authenticator. "Max" never sends the full balance, because a minimum is retained for rent and gas. Importing an existing key into an EVM bot is one-way and destructive: it changes your address across the Ethereum, Base and BSC bots at once, and GMGN states the old address is deleted with no recovery. The custody guide covers what that means in practice.

How do I place my first trade on GMGN?

Paste a contract address into the bot, or click a token in the trenches on the web app, then set your buy amount and confirm. Before that first buy, set three things: slippage, priority fee and tip. GMGN suggests 30 to 35% slippage for automated orders and 50% or more on brand-new tokens, with a total on-chain fee of 0.002 to 0.005 SOL when speed does not matter and 0.006 SOL or more for auto and limit orders. Those defaults exist because memecoin pools move between the quote and the fill.

The web terminal gives you more to work with than the bot does. The trenches view runs live columns of new tokens, tokens close to bonding and migrated tokens; New Pair lists pools from one minute to 24 hours old with liquidity, market cap, holders and a Degen Audit column; and every token page carries the chart, a draggable instant-trade window and tabs for activity, traders and holders. Contract security checks flag mint authority, top-10 concentration, blacklists, burnt supply, rug probability and the creator's rug history, with honeypot and tax detection on EVM chains. GMGN disclaims the accuracy of all of it, so read the checks as a filter rather than a verdict. Our how to trade on GMGN walkthrough covers the flow end to end, and the trenches and sniper guide covers fast entry once you are comfortable.

What does it cost to get started on GMGN?

GMGN charges a flat 1% per transaction, on the buy and again on the sell, per its own fee documentation. There is no sniper surcharge, no copy-trading surcharge and no subscription. On a 1 SOL trade that is 0.01 SOL, which is the exact worked example GMGN publishes. What you pay on top is network gas plus a priority fee and a tip that you set: minimum 0.0001 SOL each, maximum 2 SOL each, neither collected by GMGN.

For a small first trade the 1% is rarely the biggest line. GMGN's recommended 0.006 SOL of on-chain fees is 6% of a 0.1 SOL buy before slippage, and Anti-MEV mode needs a priority fee of at least 0.002 SOL to turn on. Slippage costs the most of all: authorizing 50% on a thin new pool authorizes a fill 50% below the quote. Compounding the confusion, GMGN's profit and loss display does not include fees at all, so a position that reads as flat has already cost you 2% in handling fees plus whatever the settings took. Reconcile a real trade against its transaction hash on Solscan, which is what GMGN's own documentation tells users to do. The full arithmetic is in GMGN fees explained.

What happens if I lose access to my Telegram account?

This is the question that decides how much you should keep on GMGN. You cannot export a private key: GMGN states plainly that all chains are prohibited from exporting private keys, including wallets imported from outside. Funds can only leave through GMGN's withdrawal flow, which runs through your account. So the Telegram account, the authenticator binding and the withdrawal whitelist are the whole of your recovery story.

Practically, that means treating a GMGN wallet as a hot trading account and keeping long-term holdings in a wallet whose keys you actually hold. Enable Telegram two-step verification, bind Google Authenticator and turn off its cloud sync as GMGN recommends, and set a withdrawal whitelist early so the three-hour hold is behind you before you need it. GMGN's terms of service claim you "retain control over your private keys," which directly contradicts the documentation's export ban, and its non-custody disclaimer is carefully worded to cover assets in your own Web3 wallets rather than the wallet GMGN generated. Both documents are quoted in full in is GMGN safe.

What should I learn next?

Settings first, features second. Get slippage, priority fee and tip right, then make one small trade and close it in full so you can see the real cost against the chain explorer. After that, pick the workflow you came for: fast manual entry in the trenches, or automation through copy trading and take-profit orders.

If a transaction fails, that is normal on memecoin pairs and usually fixable from the same three settings, which is what the failed transaction guide is for. When you are ready to automate, copy trading is Solana-only, caps at 10 tasks, and pauses itself after three consecutive failures, all of which is better to know before you fund a task. And if you arrived because someone told you a GMGN airdrop was coming, read the token question: there is no GMGN token, and the tokens using that name are unrelated dust.
